Place to live between Flushing and Long Island (income, income tax)

I will be working in Flushing for 2 months and Long Island for 1 month...where is a good central location? Is it better to just live in Flushing and then commute to LI for that month..not familiar with NY at all. I just don't want to have to move twice. Any input would help!

find a location in western nassau cty. You will avoid having to pay non-resident income tax to NY City
