I would guess not as he would no longer be a resident of NYC proper.

Hunter is not run by the NYC Board of Ed so I'm not sure there are residency requirements. I would live in the worst neighborhood in the boroughs if it meant keeping my kids there. I would call the school anonymously and ask...

Do you have a relative whose NYC address you can use for school purposes?

Call the school and/or check out their website. It isn't necessary that you remain anonymous. Ask them flat out if you need residency in the City to remain in the school. Then triple check it and get it in writing. Asking some secretary person there isn't going to cut it - some of them know next to nothing and couldn't care less. You don't want to move and then find out afterward your child can't attend Hunter.

From what I read on their website, there are fairly strict testing guidelines for getting into the school, and your student made the grade. So your child is in a great learning environment, and in no way would I pull them out of there. If you have to wait another couple of years to move, then wait.
