Holy sheeeeeet, do you live in LI?? Nice. What's the best grocery store chain out there to get my celery? When I lived in Connecticut, I lived in Stop and Shop, while Shoprite scared me LMAO.
I'm working out every day in the Great Neck Equinox gym. I just love the area, yesterday I went to Scarsdale and surroundings in Westchester and that was good too. Too many options, I dunno where to go
If you can afford Scarsdale then hands down take Scarsdale. Unless you're single then Great Neck is the better choice.
Thanks so much and to the rest of you who responded
The monthly ticket kind of depresses me in terms of charge. But I think I'll have to bite the bullet and take it coz the only way to avoid it would be to live in Queens and the like. I'm already scared of Queens. It reminds me of the dingy cityscape and ghettos in Bombay and Calcutta back in India. My best gauge of an area's affluence is the nature of grocery stores, schools and the closest Dunkin Donuts. I'm not kidding LOL.
I can tell a remarkable difference between the ones in Queens and those in areas like Greenwich or Darien in CT.
So I have three areas now to choose from. CT or westchester or a LI area close to LIRR. But call me crazy, I'm already in talks with a major company which puts a fatter ATM at my door in Texas. Can't resist it coz Mrs Chamataka is in Texas. Next 2 weeks will decide where I will end up for good.
Sounds like exciting times for you! What do you do for a living? You have options in an otherwise stagnant job market! Whoopee! Let us know where you are going to end up.

I operate a niche skill which is scarce in today's market. I get at least 2 callers every week. On a monthly basis, many recruiters call me for the same job. And I have always avoided taking a permanent position coz the amount of cash I get is very high, compared to what I can make if I go full time.
I was a tech geek, but by my mid twenties, I learned functionals like financials, project management and demand/capacity planning. The last two are so much in demand, and given my underlying technology profile, employers tend to use me on both arenas. So I get hired like a functional guy, and the employer actually avoids recruiting a techie with respect to the tools I work in, for I could do them both. Lately, I have entered business intelligence too, so I can actually do three roles now.
The bulk of what I do is generally termed PPM (project and portfolio management). Now, we're just talking horizontals here. PPM fits into every vertical too - healthcare, tech sector, financial, retail and media. Which means I can cross over to any vertical for I possess the horizontals.
Sorry if I was too confusing
The biggest and only threat to my job is offshoring. But there is one advantage where many employers actually want to see the guy in front of them, rather than going over the phone.
Great Neck and Scarsdale are great areas, but you need to budget for a million dollars for a house with $20000 taxes. Unless you want to be in a Condo/Co-op, but be prepared for a $1000 a month maintenance fee then. If you are complaining about $250 a month LIRR fee, I do not see how you are going to stomach the taxes and price-tag of the house.
Does he have to be a chef to make good curry? I don't think so.
I'm still confused, why curry? It's not typical food American's eat. The comment came out of left field. He didn't mention anything about cooking. It's not a comment you would make to the average person. Why did you make it?
