I would second the Ozone Park area also look into Woodhaven its really not that bad.

I assume you meant EWR. You might try Long Beach quite a few people that work at JFK rent there, also as has been said before Ozone Park, Howard Beach maybe even Valley Stream. You don't want to go too far east of JFK if you are going to commute to EWR, the ride up the Belt Pkwy and over the bridges can be horrendous.

Also if you are interested in using the trains there is a subway line in Howard Beach and an Air Train for JFK and Jamaica Station (Long Island Rail Road & Subway lines). No easy way to get to EWR by train but it is possible.

It's easy...it's just long and expensive. LIRR to Penn, get on New Jersey transit to Newark-Liberty stop. There's a tram there that goes to all the airport terminals.
