Since we are advising everyone abt commute times, I was thinking maybe we should start a thread dedicated to it.

So my fellow commuters,
How about giving the following info...
Origin --> Destination
Time taken for morning commute.
Time taken for evening commute.
Major roads/highways/ferries/trains/buses/cabs on the way.

east northport to manhattan (1 block from grand central terminal)

2 minutes racing up larkfield to the train station
6:34 am train from northport arriving at hunters point ave at 7:43am
7 train from hunters point ave to grand central station - approx 7 min
approx 8 minute walk

pretty much an hour and a half door to door
i usually have a large coffee with 2 splenda and milk
i sit in the first car lower level on the lirr
sometimes i listen to music, sometimes i read, sometimes i just stare out the window
i ride in the first car on the 7
i walk up the escalator
i don't like tourists or people who can't walk a straight line or too busy with their blackberry to watch where they're going
i usually don't read the freebee newspapers they hand out on the street

any other details you need?

Roll out of bed.

Stand up.

Throw hoodie on.

Hit the loo.

Wash up and splash cold water on my face.

Feed two hungry little parrots.

Open diet Coke.

Turn on computer.

Total time: 15 minutes, 30 if I shower. However, I usually answer emails, take and return calls, and get right to it until I need a break. Then I visit C-D. After reading the LI sub-forum, that's when I usually feel like I need a shower.
