Hello. I am looking at homes in Garden City. I've seen a few homes in the estate section area that are sort of equi-distant to about four train stations: Merrillon Ave, New Hyde Park, Nassau Blvd and Stewart Manor, but not really walking distance to any of them. So, my question is, how is parking at these train stations if I get the $100 GC parking pass? In particular, how is the parking along the street on the south side of Merrillon Ave? What about the lots at Nassau Blvd and Steward Manor? Any general thoughts on commuting from this area?

Not sure about the others but there is usually parking at Stewart Manor. We went into the city a couple of times on weekdays and parked at the lot with no problems getting a spot on the north side. Also, I had a couple of neighbors who used to drive to that station as late as 8:30 and never had a problem getting a spot.

Merillon Avenue gets pretty crowded based on the way it used to look when I'd go by it mid-afternoon every day.

Bump on this one. I'm particularly interested in the Garden City parking for Merrillon Avenue. Near as I can tell there is not a "lot" per se, but rather permitted parking spaces alongside the road. Interested in knowing whether or not there are usually spaces available here or whether the spots are gone by 6:30 am.

The lot is on the north side of the tracks. You'd have to walk along Nassau Blvd to and fro.

I have no idea about the availablity at 6:30 - sorry...I do know that lot draws people from other towns AND it gets so packed you can hardly drive thru it in the afternoon.

I know about the lot on the north side of the tracks, what I am asking about is Garden City permitted parking on the south side of the tracks. Its not a lot but side of the road permitted parking with a GC sticker.

I'd like to suggest you check out the availability of train service as well.
What good is finding parking, if the trains don't stop very often?

Yes, I'm completely familiar with that train line and the service at Merrillon. My question concerned the Garden City permitted parking.

Well, there is a member here who I believe occasionally takes the train from Merillon. He doesn't post very often though. His screen name is "azzurony" - you can search for his posts and when you find one, send him a DM. I don't think anyone else here lives in GC, at least that they've admitted. So your only other option is to take a drive by Merillon at 6:30 a.m.

You're welcome.

I am not sure about the GC permit. I thought that it only covered the south side of Merrillon. I commuted from there for 4 years. I lived in West Hempstead across from GC South. I found that if you are not on a 6am train (and I mean 6am) you will not get a spot. I believe my train was 5:58. With the pass you could go to the south side and park on the street but most areas on the north side were no parking other than the lot.

Revitalizing an old thread here since I have the same questions. I would prefer to park at Merillon but it looks like most of the spots are taken by 6:30 (I'm talking about the GC spots on the south side of the tracks). Does anyone have experience with this lot, or any others in Garden City?
