Holy Moly, That's a nice amount of money to be paid. Would think these superintendents were working on a cure for cancer rather than running a school district.
Oh that's nothing ... look at this Husband and Wife School Superintendant Team

Does this make anyone else sick to their stomachs?
Take a look at these two. They REALLY know how to work the system:
Let's look at some COLD HARD CASH coming in to this husband and wife "Dr." superintendant team.
Husband: 2010 Pension (Commack SD) = $316,245
Husband: Annual Salary (Malverne SD) = $225,000 (note: the latest contract available was only for 2008-2009, so this is probably more)
Wife: 2010 Annual Salary (Locust Valley SD) = $285,208
Grand Total of Couple's Annual Earned Income Derived from Taxpayers = $826,453
Who knows how much else they must rake in on their investments?
I guess it's safe to say this CIVIL SERVANT couple are millionaires at least a couple of times over courtesy of the taxpayers with that kind of cash coming in the door annually.
Now the question is?
Are they worth it?
I doubt it.
It's a private, exclusive club, the hierarchy of public education on Long Island ... and if this doesn't prove it, I don't know what does.
^^ yes that is ridiculous but at least they do something for their money.
Now MSG is going to raise their ticket prices 49 % and Dolan will charge more for his beloved MSG channel and cable will go up because of this man. Compare your salary with his

You could switch to Verizon or DishNetwork, unfortunetly it's much harder to find an alternative place to buy a home when you don't want to contribute your tax dollars towards insane salaries to LI superintendents.
Nassau's three police unions have filed suit in federal court to stop the county from imposing a wage freeze ordered by a state control board.
The Police Benevolent Association, the Superior Officers Association and the Detectives Association contend in their joint lawsuit that the April 1 wage freeze violates their collective bargaining agreements and the contracts clause of the U.S. Constitution.
Wow these guys just don't get it. We can no longer afford their salaries so either accept the wage cut and be thankful you still have a job, or we can dissolve the Nassau County Police Department and absorb it's personnel into the Nassau County Sheriff's Department where they will be paid 3/4 of what they currently make.
These guys are so greedy they just want more, they cannot simpily accept what they already have and leave it be. More, more, more they say. Their greed and arrogance knows no limits.
Are their salries too high?? Yes. The problem i have is they have a contract, and the county is just going to ignore it. That IS illegal. Should they renegotiate? Absolutely! But the county has no right to just freeze their pay.

Stop the hysteria. The wages are irrelevant. What is relevant is that the police unions have made concessions for several years running through re-negotiating their contracts at the request of the county. Now with a change of administration NIFA steps in and effectively nullifies the contracts, despite the fact that good-faith negotiations were made by both parties. (You don't see any of the teacher's unions having wage freezes imposed on them without the benefit of negotiation.) The political rhetoric has to separated from the legal issue at hand: when does government have the right to unilaterally break contracts with its employees?
By the way, research a bit and discover just how many Sheriff's deputies there are in Nassau County (Corrections Officers aren't included). It's not like Suffolk where there's an existing force of uniformed patrol personnel. The Sheriff jobs in Nassau and Suffolk Counties are very different and the Nassau Sheriffs Department is not capable of assuming the duties of the Nassau Police Department.
According to Newsday: In 2007, 26,000 people applied for the police officer's exam in Suffolk. Of those, only 140 were hired. I know it's a tough job but from these figures we can conclude that there is NO shortage of individuals willing to put their lives on the line for the exceptional pay and benefits that police officers earn. Why is Nassau County so utterly unable to use the law of supply and demand in determining police pay? Their contracts CAN'T last forever.
