NY needs to become a right to work state and start investigating unions that are putting NY in the toilet. The following states have a Right to Work law:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming.
Yeehaw! It's like you just copied and pasted that from the list of poorest states.
Lynch earned more than $190,000 in 2010 including $52,000 in overtime (his base salary was $138,000?). He was suspended in 2005 for traffic stops without due cause, particularly towards the end of his shift. So he is restored to duty and now 13 additional cases are being investigated.
I find it rather humorous that internal affairs could not find him between the hours of 10 PM and 2AM during his shift. I don't get a feeling that there is very good oversight at NCPD.
NY officer's DWI cases under review (http://www.newsday.com/news/new-york/ny-officer-s-dwi-cases-under-review-1.2807273 - broken link)
Lynch was never suspended, and if you read between the line, there's nothing there. The DA had a special grand jury, and found nothing that he did to be criminal. And, do you think that MAYBE the defense attorney MIGHT not be the best source of information to begin with?

Right, the guy is earning a boatload of OT cash and was accused of the same thing 5 years ago. I'll be the first to admit that accused != guilty, but accused twice tells me there's smoke... and where there's smoke there's usually fire. This is something that's pretty hard to prove which is probably why nothing will come of it, but it's good to have these checks and balances on the police. We don't live in a police state, despite what some cops think (and act).

This was from the DA Special Investigations Unit and Detectives. He was disciplined and removed from highway duties from 2005 to 2008, retrained and returned to duty. Det Smith stated that 83 DWI arrests in 3 years were a lot, most of th earrests occured after 3AM and in addition the language used in his reports was repetitive back in 2005. Tough to prove but Certainly seems like he was gaming the system.
If the "Special Investigators" even thought they had anything, they'd have moved towards an indictment...As they never did, there must not have been anything there...and, the Defense Attorney is the source for most of the quotes.

So why did they remove him from duty and discipline him, but not to indict, so evidently there was some substance to the allegations. Seems like there were enough coincidences to not return him to duty even though he was retrained, whatever that involves. If he is on the level, which I doubt, you could still predict that attorneys would grab hold of this issue. Also he is 57 years old and close to retirement.
Aside from the basic "because they *can* move him? While NPCD is quite happy and proud to tout their DWI numbers, the same cannot be said about the officers. Locking up drunks can be a dirty business, and post arrest phone calls complaining are not unheard of. In a nutshell, DWI Cops aren't too popular, even with, and sometimes specifically amongst, their peers.
