I recently purchased a house... I am looking to re-do the upstairs flooring (including the stairs going upstairs).
I am either looking to replace all of the rugs OR i would put hard wood flooring on the stairs, hallway and perhaps the master bedroom.
Any suggestions???
I am looking for very basic carpets (I dont believe in "stain-master this and that, I prefer as little chemical in my carpets as possible). Even the wood floors might not be "real wood" if the price is that much better and it looks decent.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (Lowes, Homedepot, Empire, ect>>...)

Hardwoods.
Hands down.
Rugs are GNARLY if youre gonna have kids/pets.
If you must just do the Bedrooms
Hardwood flooring with area rugs.
Hunter flooring did a family member's house and it looked nice. They are out east but serviced western Suffolk.
What is on your stairs now? They should be some kind of hardwood.
If you go with hardwood, which I would reccomend for most areas, look at Bellawood prefinished products. They are beautiful and you won't have to deal with any dust or odors from the finishing process. There is a Lumber Liquidators showroom just off the LIE at Rt. 111. They also sell laminate floors if you wind going that route.
Almost all buyers look for hardwood floors nowadays.
Even if you end up putting carpet over the floors in the bedrooms, it'll give you the option of taking it up if/when it's time to sell.
