My husband, daughter and son got it. It is a terrible one. My son was rushed to the ER from the Pediatrician's office because he would not eat or drink and was severely dehydrated. My son is 2 years old. He was sick for 3 days. It does not affect the older kids and adults as badly. People need to make sure that those under 3 are carefully watched and kept hydrated NOT JUST WATER but Pedialyte or even gatorade if they will take it better. The little ones can become dehydrated very quickly.
My kids had it over new years. It lasted 1 day.I only gave them plain rice, bananas, applesauce and crackers for 48 hrs. They drank plenty but noticed they did best with flat coke rather than gatorade or pedialyte. Hope it passes quickly for you guys. I have hand gels and lysol spread out throughout the house. Hubby and I managed not to catch it, but we wash hands and clean religiously esp. if something is passing through our home.
My son and neighbor's son are both sick with stomach bugs. I'm not surprised how it's spreading in my neighborhood...the fogged-up-windowed school bus just strikes me as a rolling petri dish of germs! Fingers crossed that our other kids don't catch it too. The school nurse said that there is indeed a stomach virus making it's way around the school...my son's teacher has been out all week with it as have a significant number of kids.
Well, I'll be getting that soon between my son in day care and my wife teaching school. Always fun. Catch little kids throw up before it lands on rug, then enjoy throwing up a few days later yourself. At least, that's how it worked 2 years back when it made the rounds.
I had a bad one in November last year... It lasted for a week, but the cough did not go away. I was suffering through it till December. I personally want to blame it on the work I did in the garage though, dusty stuff.
Many at work said they were sick or they knew someone who was.
I have heard that the antibiotics are useless for certain types of viruses, but thats the first thing that a doc gives you, anyway doesn't hurt.

Feel good Crooks.
Anitbiotics are useless for all viruses as far as I konw, but they are used to fight bacterial infections that occur after the fact. And it can hurt if docs prescribe ABs everytime someone has a sniffle...anti-biotic resistant strains of bacteria are the result of overuse of anti-biotics. No good.
