I was doing a google search and found this site with your question about any New Yorkers moving to Port St. Lucie. You really must research the area. I am from NY and was transf. to Port St. Lucie over 9 years ago and it has changed. Remember this is a right to work state you DO NOT have the labor laws to protect you like up North you should look into that also. First the job market in this area is not good, if you are not in the medical, tades, insurance or banking your sunk! There is no real business in Port St. Lucie, I worked in NYC and what a reality check that was!!!!!!
There are many home owners leaving the state of Florida including from Port St. Lucie because of the huge inceases in homeowner insurance and property tax. Many people just can't afford it any more. Port St. Lucie has a huge amount of vacant homes on the market in the 1,000's and that doesn't include all the foreclosures that are skyrocketing weekly. The company I work for shut down and it is impossible to find a job. Oh also Port St Lucie is in a recession right now.
