For quite some time it was actually illegal for a homeowner to sell to someone who was Jewish in Garden City. While it has been off the books for decades the aftermath of the old law is probably still felt.

Maybe they don't have a walkable synagogue in GC. Don't Jews need a synagogue in walkable proximity in order to attend the Sabbath?

There's actually a synagogue right in the middle of Garden City. It's walking distance from 2 train stations and there aren't many towns as walkable as GC with its sidewalks, flat terrain, and the streets laid out like a grid.

As brooklynborndad said its mostly among the orthodox. You will tend to see that in for example the Lawrence area northern portions of Great Neck, but not so much in southern portions of Great Neck, Roslyn or Jericho.

Folks, need I even say that anti-Semitic remarks (even if you believe them to be funny) are totally unacceptable.

But calling massapequa, "matzoh-pizza" is fine? I don't have a problem with it at all, just curious why.

For the longest time Garden City residents kept Jews out of their village. There was a lot of spillover to local Malverne, which at one point had a lot more money than it appears to today.
