I was thinking of making a similar thread, as I passed the gas stations on my way to work this morning.... we’re at $3.50/gallon.

Last summer Long Island gas prices hovered around $2.90/gallon.
Historical Price Charts - Long Island Gas Prices

If the unrest overseas spreads and moves into the Middle East, we could be heading towards a summer of $4+/gallon. That would be a 38% increase from last summer.

Regardless of what you see at the malls, many people on Long Island are struggling with stagnant wages and increasing cost of living. Throw in a 38% increase in their transportation expense to get to work and this puts a bigger strain on Long Islanders.

Unfortunately those living on a budget, seeing a 38% increase in their transportation costs will not be able to just grin and 'bear it'.... They’ll most likely cut back on other expenses/consumption, which will impact the Long Island economy.

Which will decrease the tax revenue towns and counties get from local business, which will either be offset by cutting public jobs or increasing taxes, further burdening Long Islanders.

Luckily for you, Chinese delivers.

Who knows how long LI Bus will actually be in business. Last I read their budget will have $0 in May.

We'll have to wait for election time to see them decrease.

That's when the Fuel Genie miraculously appears out of the White House.

The first deepwater drilling permit in the Gulf of Mexico since the BP well disaster was just issued. A coincidence that it arrived on the tails of crude oil price spike? Too little, too late.

Looks like my Hot rod will stay in Winter storage for another season though (Predicting 5 bucks for 93 this summer) and at 7MPG City and 13HWY you can see why
