I have a Levitt Ranch which has a 3/4 rear dormer. The prior owner did not dormer the last bedroom due to the chimney being there. I am considering dormering the front of the house along with the section that wasn't previously dormered. I would also like to raise the roof higher. I presently have 3 bedrooms and 1 bath on the second floor.

I was interested in a ballpark figure to do the additional dormer. I want to add another bathroom on the second floor along with another bedroom. Will the 3/4 rear dormer save significant money and building a full dormer?

Thanks

You should call a few companies and get estimates. I am currently getting a full front dormer with a full bathroom. It will give us 2 large bedrooms. All companies said that to do a full double dormer (front and back), the roof needs to be raised and the whole second floor needs to be rebuilt. The price is considerably more. (At least in our case. We also have a 20 ft. rear extension on the entire 1st floor with cathedral ceilings, so I think supporting the rear of our home might have been a bit of an added espense)

Only a company and architect can really answer you with true price quotes. They will need to see your property and tell you your options.
