Anyone ever use a pest control company to get rid of squirrels in the soffits or attic? I got quoted $450 (no limit on number of squirrels) with a 6 month guarantee and just wanted to see if thats the going rate.

Basically they come check traps every day. Traps are put on the roof.

Thanks!

Try fire, that seems to get them out.

What is being done to keep them from getting into the soffit? They can keep trapping the critters, but if the soffit isn't closed off at some point, you're still going to have guests. Also, this needs to be done soon before they start having litters.

Yeah it was basically ice jams from the winter that pushed out one end of the soffit. It'll get fixed but I need to get the critters out first.

Call a roofer. I almost fell off the roof trying to repair mine when racoons got in. leave it to the experts.

Yep...got that all set up. But until I get the varmits out I don't want to close it up.

$450 is a lot of acorns...but if it's the going rate so be it.

Anyone?

well, when we had squirrels in out attic, my father bought a squirrel trap for like $60. he put some peanutbutter in it and he caught it. he took the trap and let the squirrel go out in the woods, far from our house. so, if you have the time, i suggest doing that. a lot cheaper than $450!

I had squirrels entering through a soffit once. In the house, you could hear them scurrying up and down...Drove me crazy.
I paid for an exterminator to get rid of them but they only caught one....and while their traps laid empty, I'd hear those darn squirrels scurrying through my walls, back and forth, back and forth, having a field day.
FINALLY, when I had my roof done, it scared the dickens out of them. They left my home and the roof and soffits were nicely sealed by the workmen. Of course, It just happened that my home needed a new roof at the time. That'd be a darn expensive way for you to choose to get rid of them, otherwise.

I feel for you.

One last thing, the traps the exterminator set on the roof NEVER caught anything. The 1 squirrel he did catch was from a trap in the attic.

*Also, I did my part to reduce the squirrel population around my house by putting a trap in my yard. I caught LOTS of squirrels. Every time I caught one, I'd drive it out to Massapequa and let it go there - just far enough (5 miles) so it wouldn't find it's way back to MY home, LOL.
