Can anyone make any recommendations for the best towns to live in close enough to Yaphank while considering my age and the likelihood for there to be other 20 year olds?

It just seems so lonely out here for a young person.

What do you consider close enough?

Close enough is within 12 - 15 miles, the closer the better. Just not any east of Yaphank - north, south or west are fine.

Babylon seems a little too far for me.

I'm not sure about Patchogue though for a college-educated young person, that town seems high in its percentage of high school drop-outs, vagrants and wannabe thugs.

I'm thinking maybe Port Jeff village?

People don't go out anymore. They sit in the basement and play Call of Duty 4 and MLB on XBox. Get with the times.
"Outdoors" is full of ugly people, Deer Ticks and Chiggers and is totally overated.

Wow, Babylon is too far from Yaphank? When I was a kid, 20, 30, 40 miles were considered close. But you're right scottzilla, I don't see the younger generation today enjoying anything outdoors.

While I agree with you, the OP did say nothing east of Yaphank. He's looking for a more crowded area of people around his age.

OP, in accordance with your post, I agree with raiser on Patchogue. Its probably your best bet. Your second choice could be Port Jefferson, though a bit further than Patchogue. To tell you the truth, you are really limiting yourself with that small distance requirement.

Oh I just saw your post about not caring for Patchogue. Then Port Jefferson would be your better bet. Anything else and you'll have to go further than your 12 to 15 miles.

Default hmm

I am 29 and in my complex there are a lot of us. Its a healthy mix of young and old.

Its called blue ridge located in medford right next to 112 inbetween north ocean avenue and 112.

i got my unit for $150k. The taxes for the whole complex just got reduced.

9 hole golf course ,indoor pool, outdoor pool, club house, cafe.

Even the 3 bedroom , fireplace units go for $250k

so the diff units range from $120k for a 1 bedroom small appt like unit - $300k for the top of the line 3 bed 2 floor liv and family room with fireplace units and ext storage.

Pretty good prices for there being no cheap housing on long island PLUS for you its pretty darn close to yaphank

PS the bus that runs north and south on 112 from patchague to port jeff has a stop in the complex also.
