Overall, there are just fewer victorians around period. Subsequently pool available for sale is more limited than say a colonial, etc.

You can check out the Shelter Rock Builders that principally correct saw great potential in the neighborhood as a gateway from Brooklyn to Queens, and also recognized a tremendous need in the community for quality, affordable housing.

Sounds like you need to decide which is more important - style of house or its location (ie school district). You complained about GC being too snobby - I grew up in HUntington and lived in GC for 13 years - if you think there aren't bigger snobs in Huntington (especially in the Halesite/Huntington Bay area) and probably Roslyn than you'll find in GC you're deluding yourself.

You're kinda flailing here...I've been there. Decide which is ultimately your #1 priority and you'll have better luck in your house search.

^ i know exactly what you're saying, we're all over the map. I think maybe my aversion to gc and rvc is the importance of sports; I was a jock but my kids are more into art and music. I will probably encounter snobs and such in any of the places we are considering.

Ya, I would tend to gree... I wouldnt even limit the style of house... Get your basic needs set... 2 car garage, basement, 3 bdrooms, etc... and start from there. You might be surprised by what you like and do not like.

For example: Not all splits are in the same format.

so we've narrowed it to sea cliff or rvc with huntington a maybe because we love it but the commute frightens me. Found one house we love in Floral Park but not sure about the high school there. All signs point to sea cliff thus far but I have to get into contract with our slow as molasses buyers first.
