Dislike both but at least Cablevision didn't take a $1.5 billion bailout from the Feds like Verizon did.

Verizon CEO: No Bailout for Me, Thanks," reads the headline of this WSJ blog post from Oct. 14, 2008, in which Seidenberg said, "You’re not seeing the same liquidity issues and hue and cry coming out of the telecom industry that you’re seeing out of other industries." Seidenberg even took a shot at the U.S. government, saying it "helped create a lot of really bad business models." And then two weeks later, the government loaned Verizon $1.5 billion.Which they never repaid.

I found info on the loan/bailout but can't seem to find anything on Verizon never paying it back. It seems unlikely to me, do you have a link or anything that states this?

Does it work anywhere you can get wifi or only off the wifi from your own cablevision setup at home?

Only on the home network. Since I don't have TV in the basement or in the backyard, it works as a great TV substitute.
