I currently have an aluminum awning over my patio. I'd like to replace it with a patio cover that is constructed of wood and connected to the house.

Will I need to obtain a permit from the Town of Hempstead and hire an architect? Or can a contractor just build it? To me, it seems like a simple job for someone who knows how to do it, so I'm not so sure if all that is necessary or not.

Thanks.

pretty sure a permit is required, you can call up and ask on a no name basis. whether you need an architect I dunno, possibly the contractor can get the permit.
