So many things I want to say about this. I don't even know where to begin.

- I would simply call him the Ocean Parkway Serial Killer.
- However, I highly doubt all 10 are the work of the same killer. It's likely that some are also mob hits, gangbangers, etc. Some of the bodies could very well have been there for decades.
- Shannan Gilbert was probably not murdered, her footprint trail led directly to the Great South Bay ... meaning she probably accidentally drowned in her haste to escape whoever was chasing after her.
- They need to search all the barrier islands inch by inch, they did Oak and Captree Islands now they should do Fire Island itself.
- The SCPD and the NCPD need to swallow their pride and ask the FBI for help.

They are saying these killings are very similar to the 2006 case of the 4 prostitutes strangled and left in a ditch in Atlantic City, NJ ... it's likely this guy has struck before elsewhere. It seems he has a thing for leaving dead prostitutes on barrier islands in groups of 4. Maybe there have been similar murders in places like the Outer Banks in North Carolina or Florida's Space Coast?

Im partial to The Bay Side Killer too. Or The Bay Side Strangler (the Post is reporting they were strangled).

Last June my husband drove home late at night from a film shoot in Pt Lookout. It was at least 3 AM. He was in an antique car and decided it would be best to avoid the drunks on the SSP or Sunrise, so he opted for the Ocean Pkwy. He said it was the creepiest ride -- dark, desolate, damp, with a bit of fog rolling over the dunes from the beach.

Whoever did this had the perfect cloak of darkness under which to dump his victims.

I wonder if OBI were still in business, if the traffic generated by it would have driven the murderer to leave the bodies elsewhere?

Back in my day, Ocean Parkway was THE place to go drag racing, or just test drive any new mods you did to your hot rod. Then, like anything else, every idiot and their brother caught on, and it was a jerk fest down there, and the cops caught on, and well, you know, done.
It was an awesome drive if you wanted to clear your head too. You, your ride, the open road and some good tunes on the radio, did wonders for the mind. Unless you had a ****box and a crappy radio...

When I used to drive home from work in the city the SSP was always jammed so I blasted down the Meadowbrook, hit the Ocean and BLASTED the whole way never went below 80 till I hit the bridge. I'd see maybe 10-15 cars on the road. They're never going to find this guy, he picked a great spot. Dark, lonely, you have some background noise. I like the Parkway Phantom myself. Or the Gilgo Ghost/Ghoul, either one.
