Friday, April 15th is National Gas Out Day. Please pass along the message to everyone you know not to buy gas this Friday and send a message to the oil companies in protest of the high gas prices. We can make a difference!

The point is to send a message. It worked in 1997, prices dropped almost 30 cents a gallon almost overnight.

No, it doesn't.

Demand simply shifts one or two days in the other direction.

This is nothing but slacktivism, and sad slacktivism at that.

It does not work, what is wrong with YOU? The only way something like that would work is if everyone in America picked ONE provider (Mobil, Exxon, etc...) and no one ever bought gas from them again. Then they would be forced to lower their prices which would lead to their competition having to do the same.

For everyone to stop buying gas altogether for one day will have no effect at all.
