are there any neighborhoods in LI where christians, jews, and muslims together make up the majority? Especially areas where there are good schools and its possible to commute to Manhattan?

It's "on" LI.

If you meant inns on LI, there's plenty.

The rest of it appears 2 be over my head--if Jews, Christians, and Muslims "together" are the majority, how is it a monontheistic area, collectively I mean.

They are all monotheistic religions because they all believe in ONE God. Polytheistic religions, such as Hinduism, believe in several Gods.

Why are you asking for this?

If you think about it, most neighborhoods on LI (and in the USA as a whole) are made up of people who believe in monotheistic religions because monotheistic religions are the most popular in North America.

If there is a representation of Hindus or people who believe in other polytheistic religions, would that ruin a neighborhood for you?

Three Village SD - Stony Brook, Setauket, Old Field - lots of atheists, and agnostics. Very tolerant place. Big Unitarian Fellowship.

TY for that, but I was also confused about a "monotheistic area" ????? He's looking for an area made up of only monotheistic religions?????

To the OP, just forget it, move to da Riv. Decent SDs and good Babylon train to NYC. If you mean you want a good mix of religions, you have plenty of Italians, Jews, Irish, some Muslims, and yes, some Hindus and others too.
