The Answer: Nothing short of demolition.

Business' and shopping are so spread out that its unfeasable to maintain a bus system within the area.

-Repeal the unconstitutional MTA payroll tax
-Repeal the MTA

Make LI Bus more efficient with 20-30 minute express buses to central Nassau from most parts of the county. In its current form, you need to set aside 70-90 minutes to get from South-East Nassau to Central Nassau. That is not practical.

I don't know what else to say. You have to get it to be competitive with using a car, then maybe some people will start using it in place of driving. LIRR to Manhattan in less than an hour from anywhere in Nassau County is excellent. Why can't LIBS figure out how to get people moving efficiently like this? It only caters to certain parts of the county, mainly central Nassau.

Well there needs to be more frequent but more importantly faster service, better hours, and connections. I'd like to see the LIRR, LI Bus, and Suffolk Transit merge into a Long Island Transportation Authority with one electronic fare medium.

I think that buses could work on Long Island. Heres how:

Shrink the buses to fit anywhere from 2-7 seats. Let individuals taking the bus drive it themselves. They would also be responsible for fueling the bus. Since each individual would drive his bus he could control the radio and temperature too. Additionally I think it would help if each individual could use the bus to quickly and directly go from his house to his job and back with no waiting. To accomplish this buses would have to be kept in front of each individuals house in an area I'm going to call a "driveway". At each place of business an area could be set aside for the buses to be ready to transport the workers home. I'll call that a "parking lot".

I think if you could meet these conditions buses would be wildly successful here on Long Island.
