wow, thrilling. and so exclusive to LI (except Montauk and FI of course, which are good for 2 overcrowded and very expensive months).

Not saying it's boring as hell here (oh wait, I am saying that), just that your examples are pretty generic and unimpressive. Believe it or not, they have bars, shopping, friends and restaurants everywhere...even Ethiopia.

Racer, please stop agreeing with me, it damages my credibility.

Besides "are" water is just fine. The beaches are great, just too crowded.

You forgot planting fields!

And I get your point but shopping is super important to me and our malls and shops are the best that I have found. Shopping may not be a hobby of yours or most ppl especially men but it's important to me and one of the many reasons i stick around.

It didin"t have to be that way brookhaven"s seemingly generic ideas are boring what happens to a old
store sitting on 10 acres of land = condos

What happens to a driving range or a golf course when it goes out of bussniess =condos
nobody has any clever ideas its the same crap over and over i read an article from the 60s were a developer bought the bald hill land and wanted to put a housing development there the town talked him out of it and built a ski resort what happend to that clever thinking>

That clever thinking is long gone from LI. Costs are way too high for any kind of novel activity center (indoor ski hill, etc.) and most of the Eastern LI hikeable paths publically accessible are infested with ticks.

Splish Splash is up to $160 for a family of four now (not including whatever they charge for parking), which is not really surprising given LIPA rates and insurance costs in highly litigous NY.

This is true. When it comes down to the things you need/use in everyday life, LI is no different than suburban Cleveland, Miami or LA. They all have parks, bars, restaurants and malls. I haven’t seen anything at a LI mall that I haven’t seen somewhere else. Even the folks in Jersey can say they have beaches and are close to NYC. To paraphrase the character Henry Drummond from “Inherit the Wind”, “LI is a good place, but it isn’t the only place”.
