Hi Tom
Looks like a fungus. I would prune off any infected leaves. More because of the molted look on the edge of the leaves. The hole in the bottom middle one looks like a fungus that popped thru the leaf. The lveaves are also curled up. It is not apple scab. At least I dont think it is. It also does not look like any bugger is eating it (at the edge of leaves.)
Prune off any really badly infected leaves, discard the leaves and disinfect the shears inbetween cuts.
The leaves may fall prematurely.
I will look in my books in the morning.
That is serious! I would get someone to look at it and take care of it asap! North Country Tree and Landscaping I've used them before, and they were terrific!
I know, I called them yesterday. With all the rain we've been having I can't get anyone to come out for two weeks. They're behind, but at least they're coming.
My husband called the nursery where we purchased the tree and they said it was a fungus due to the wet weather we had in April & May. They said all the pears have it and it's no biggy, that the effected leaves would fall off and you just remove them or we could go to HD to buy an anti-fungal spray for the tree.
