People with easy access to guns kill people. The killer was a legal gun owner, in fact part of the reason they found him involved his fingerprint being found at the scene was matched against the fingerprint taken at the time he got a pistol permit from Suffolk County. That type of fingerprinting requirement to get a pistol permit is something I'm sure many of the give everyone a gun crowd is against.
Or they would have just gotten it off the federal documents from his army service.
No problems with a permitting process, but I have a problem being treated like a criminal.
Background checks, gun registration, etc do not = being treated like a criminal.
Fingerprinting, needing to go to get every gun inspected, having LEOs allowed to prone me out and "secure" my firearm when I have done nothing wrong (and not give me the rounds depending on officer), unable to CCW without "good" reason (because self-protection apparently isn't good despite Heller case), 10 rnd mag caps because only "criminals" need more, scary politically expediante weapons ban that people don't need unless they are "criminals".
Yeah, I call that being treated like a criminal. I'm not even starting on needing to give up my rights to illegal search and seizure if I had a class 3 item, ohh wait those are only needed by "criminals" and hence illegal in NYS too.

Bbbbbbbut Andy Cuomo said that "New York is a beacon of liberty" .... I am assuming he left out unless one is a conservative, a gun owner, or a Long Island taxpayer.
Long Island independence sounds better and better with each passing day. Long Island for the Long Islanders.

I am for prosecuting anyone that uses a gun to murder, rob or attempt to murder another person and give them LIFE WITH NO PAROLE. Even that would probably not stop all gun crimes but it sure would reduce it and actual law abiding gun owners would not be penalized for the few idiots that use guns to commit crimes.

I don't think we should have to pay for them to eat and watch cable for the rest of they're lives. just pull the plug on them. forget the chair, a bullet is cheaper. Live by the gun die by the gun they say (

Upstate brings some realism. Think about it, if LI were its own state we'd be without major industry and ruled by NIMBYs who think a 400K ranch on a 100x100 postage parcel is a great deal.

Actually we pay for them to dodge anal rape and STDs, have their families (if they have any) used and exploited for money and drugs, live in super overcrowded conditions with inadequate oversight, receive substandard health care (or none at all), etc. The state of our prison system is deplorable and frankly you'd be doing some of these people a favor by simply killing them.

None of those things are treating you like a criminal, its simply doing more to make sure guns don't end up in the wrong hands. Also good to know that you are against one of the key things that helped lead to his arrest.
