I grew up on Long Island, Suffolk county near Riverhead. I am going to be moving out to the Glen Cove area in a month. I haven't spent a whole lot of time out there growing up on LI. Was curious if I can get a few pointers on the good and bad areas, great restaurants, and activities to do on my free time.

Thank you!

I lived in Glen Cove about 18 years ago. It's a pretty easy area to figure out in terms of good areas and bad. Drive around and you'll get the picture.
Glen Cove Avenue towards the projects is not good. The Orchard was an Italian American Area and it's safe. The Landing, where Morgan Park is, can be spotty.
The area near the Hospital is very nice. There are many nice areas, great restaurants, and two nice beaches. I was married in Glen Cove and was proposed to in Morgan's Park.

I don't know if you are looking to rent or buy. Glen Cove is not inexpensive. It is very convenient to NYC, which will be very different for you.
Like many towns along the North Shore it has an actual town, not just a mess of strip malls.
Hope that this is of some help!

Thank you sheena12, You mentioned there are two beaches in that area, where at? I will be taking a drive out there to get to know the area a little better. I've been up 107 a few times and down the the Glen Cove golf course. Thats about it.

Is Morgan Park in Glen Cove? Is it a actual park that allows walking and rollerblading?

Actually, Glen Cove is a city.

It's one of the two cities in Nassau County. Long Beach is the other city.
