Why are there so many Hispanic related topics recently?

The first illegal immigrants to the North American continent were the Pilgrims. Not one of them showed a passport when they landed. The Mexicans lived on much of what we now consider the USA until we snatched their lands. Consider the Mexican invasion a reconquest of what was originally theirs. I think you are seeing a lot of posts about Hispanics because of the erroneous fear that Hispanics are taking away jobs. The truth is that Hispanics are working some of the most deplorable and low-wage earning jobs that most North Americans refuse to do. The reality is that Hispanics are actually contributing more to the economy in ways that would require a separate thread to explain. Just know that many illegal Hispanics pay into the Social Security system. Without them, the system would be bankrupt. If they were such a peril to our society, the USA would spend as much effort to boot out Hispanics as we've spent tracking Osama Bin Laden.

The problem today is not as much a race or ethnic problem so much as it is a class struggle. The rich are getting obnoxiously richer while the middle class are getting exceedingly poorer. The average American needs to put their priorities in check and start fighting the right battles instead of inciting racial hatred.

Oh, and by the way, there are a large number of European illegal immigrants on US soil. Polish, Russian, Irish, English, to name a few. The reason they go undetected is that they physically blend in with the majority white population, whereas Hispanics tend to stand out as different, especially if they tend to speak predominantly Spanish over English. Many of these illegal Europeans initially come to the USA with appropriate Visas, but eventually overstay their welcome. If a Mexican was standing on one side of the street and an Irish on the other, more likely the Irish would be the illegal, but few Americans can fathom that reality. Walk into any Irish pub in Boston or any restaurant on Cape Cod and I guarantee you few of them are legal.
