I'm actually surprised this hasn't been posted yet.

Seven communities in the Town of Hempstead have a boil water advisory | 7online.com

Quote:
NASSAU COUNTY (WABC) -- The Water Authority of Western Nassau County has issued a boil water warning for seven communities in the Town of Hempstead.

Customers in North Valley Stream, Elmont, Floral Park, Franklin Square, New Hyde Park, Stewart Manor and Garden City are being told to boil their water before drinking it.

Separate water samples tested positive for E. Coli and Total Coliform bacteria, prompting the warning.

Just an FYI in Garden City it's only west of New Hyde Park Road that you must boil your water (talked to the ILs this morning).

Wow - apparently this company has been getting away with it for at least 5 years and counting -with several high rate increases to boot.

Love when tripping across old threads while looking at news articles of more current vintage. Friend in GC was "bragging" how good his water was for "only" $70 a quarter - I hated to tell him but I do remember seeing it wasn't so safe.

He must have a leak if he's paying $70/quarter. I don't think my water bill was ever over $25/quarter.

It all depends on your company. My mother in law's house is with the south farmingdale water district (I think), and she pays about $30 every quarter.

I'm with American Water and am lucky to pay $30 per month.

I was talking specifically about the person in GC where I used to live as well.
