May I ask what is wrong with this law. it is not banning puppy sales all together. It just requires the puppies to come from a shelter, rescue organization or a breeder in suffolk county.

I do not see anything wrong with that.

ps typical newspaper with wrong headlines just to get readers.

I like it. I would prefer them getting thier puppies from somewhere I can visit the enviroment, locally, rather than having to fly 1500 miles to see, which my never happen in my lifetime.

Would you prefer the gov't banning certain clothing lines due to child/slave labor?

IIRC it is only for US-based production. There isn't any that I know of that requires international labor standards.

Well-intentioned, but short-sighted. The ugly truth is that breeder supply on the island is nowhere near meeting demand. Widespread spaying and neutering has guaranteed that you can't just get a pup from a neighbor like my mother and father did not so long ago.

Of course, my husky came from Puppy Depot in Coram. My guess is that pet store owners in eastern Nassau are popping open champagne in anticipation of the new business.
