Antivirus/Firewall Software (Ava: house, rated, avg)

Can anyone suggest a top rated internet protection? I am searching for a new Antivirus/Firewall Software, I find myself steering clear of McAfee and Norton due to their popularity; your help will be highly appreciated.

Very happy Avast user here, for several years. Had Norton years ago but it was a system hog.
