Do you mean "Mandee"? That's still around, although a lot fewer stores. In seven States, and in our area, two in Queens and two on Long Island.

You can add 6th Ave electronics to this list, they closed all of their LI stores, as I found out when I stopped by the one in Carle Place today.
4 stores remain open in NJ.

I knew they would never last. Kinda reminded me of those fly by night grey market electronics places back in the 90's. Their store policies and customer service was horrible, The Richard family must be happy.

Out of all of them, I miss Woolworth's the most. Their wonderful lunch counters w/ grilled cheese sandwiches and ice-cream sodas for 35 cents each.

McCrory's was nice too, especially in the Huntington Mall.

I remember when woolworth's sold fish and parakeets. I always wanted a bird but my mom said no, they look sickly. If you want a bird we can go to a real pet store. Sneakers in the bins too.
