They may of had good deals but you had to fight for them. It was a place where you had to know what you wanted and what was a reasonable offer then the shouting started. You dare not show any weakness or indecision and a few choice Yiddish or Hebrew insults helped. It was an amazing place though. I considered their people like Seinfeld's Soup Nazi unbelevible!

caldor was not i the mall, it was a mile away down the road where the new dmv stands.

Why did Mid Island Dept Store in Port Jeff Station always have that horrid mildew smell??? ugh I dreaded going there with my mom...at least Jeffrey's had the plastic egg machine.

No one mentioned the Children's Outlet in Smith haven mall with the TV shaped fort. Also sneaker shack with the green carpet covered tree stumps. I got many sneakers there...now i go to Kohls.

I miss odd lot..i used to buy kennel kuddles there.
And of course why wouldn't you go to Cheap Johns before going to the movies for candy!

The flea market in Levittown is vintage!..and it does say Mays on the doors. More original brown panelling than any other store on the Island i'm sure!

...I just remember alot of brown and orange store fronts in the 80s!
especially in Stony Brook .. B O W L

Anyone have any pictures of 80's arcades on LI? I was too young to remember any except Timeout in the mall. I played most of my arcade games in Port Jeff Bowl and Nathans I guess. Spaceplex came later. I do remember Photon too. Do 3000 spaceplex tickets have any value today? probably not.
