Now it's WEMP...an all-news station geared toward soccer moms.

WRXP is still streaming online but the DJs are gone. Matt Penfield is back with the MTV crowd (not like he really ever left)...I think on MTV2.

WRXP was the station to listen to to learn about local bands and rock history. I'll miss that.

Anyone know of another radio station (heard on LI) that focuses on local bands or alternative rock?

The only station that matters.

Progressive Radio for Long Island 92-9 / 96-9 'EHM

Go satellite. Well worth it for multiple dedicated channels.

Younger...maybe.
Better...no.

Different format and demos.

If youre looking to recapture Lollapalooza nostalgia then RXP was awesome.

EHM is a very deep catalogue AAA akin to early WNEW.

This is so sad. I was so depressed when I heard about this.

Just my opinion. You told me all about yours, I gave it a try but liked RXP better.

I'd be interested to know EHM's ratings/market share on Eastern LI. The station seems like its on in every single store and business in the East Hampton to Montauk area.

Thats cool.

It just a different (and dated)format that took few chances en route to classic rock

Good station but I'm not surprised it failed.

NYC would do well with a station half as good as EHM.

FUV holds it's own. I wish we had old school Scelsa NEW or original WLIR back.

EHM at least takes chances. Gotta respect that.
