I say PW for sure. You won't see loads of kids on the street, etc. Most towns in LI kids play at playdates, etc, not just hang out in front of their homes, kwim?

That's what I recommended as well. However, LegalDiva stated that her husband nixed the location because he knows too many people there

Someone seems REALLY stuck on this whole kid thing. I didn't realize half of the towns/hamlets/villages/cities/communities/locations were just extremely large McDonalds play zones.

If you are looking for where other childless couples live go the the Census 2000 website. I don't think the 2010 census numbers are up yet in that much detail. You can actually go by zipcode and see what percentage of couples are married with no children, you can even see micro areas which are really local, just a few blocks. It can even break that down by age. If you take the time you can get all the details you need on that site.

You are going to have a difficult time finding a place in Nassau that you will accept, but no problem finding a place that would accept you (being child-free) if you started being a little more open minded and accepting toward those who have chosen a different path. You may not realize that you are being offensive, but you are.
Totally agree. I don't have kids in my house, have friends who never had kids, and have neighbors whose kids are long gone. Clearly the OP is making an issue where one really doesn't exist.

Perhaps LegalDiva still thinks that kids are actually still allowed to be kids like they were when we were kids. She will be happy to know that on Long Island, most kids are now safely out of sight in order to avoid any discomfort to the entitled members of the child-free elite. They are only allowed to leave their house for pre-arranged playdates or organized group activities closely under total adult supervision at all times. This will ensure that they will be living at home with their parents until age 40 and not know how to cook, clean, pay their own bills, think for themselves or display any creativity. This will in turn ensure that they will never marry, have children or become productive members of society. In turn the hard working immigrants will slowly replace these infantile adults that cannot fend for themselves and the game of life will be over. Isn't Long Island great! All that "enrichment" but with no life skills = well educated but incompetent adults (and the ton of young heroin addicts here on the North Shore whose habits are supported by and kept hushed up by Mommy and Daddy's money). Why people can't see that here is beyond me! I guess if you grew up here it's considered normal for adults to live in their parent's basements well into their 30's.
Between the child-free advocates who want to make it as uncomfortable as possible for you to take your children anywhere, to the overprotective, hyper organized helicopter parents; Long Island is becoming more difficult for good parents that want to teach their kids a sense of responsibility and self-reliance and allow them to enjoy some of the normal things all kids in the past did while growing up. It seems like people nowadays either hate kids, or they want to smother them so they end up dysfunctional.
