I'm shocked no one has mentioned the 300 lb gorilla in the room in Ridge called the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). If you are science oriented the public tours during the summer months are great. Each tour focuses on one of BNL's facillities.

Actually, there is no city, village or hamlet named "Upton", just a ZIP Code postal zone with that name.
