I think it was to keep the Nasholes out...but its not working since Queens occupied their territory rendering them homeless and bitter.

I'm shocked no one has mentioned the 300 lb gorilla in the room in Ridge called the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). If you are science oriented the public tours during the summer months are great. Each tour focuses on one of BNL's facillities.

And not to further confuse the OP or the jazzman but much of yaphank attends south country school district, not a surprise you want to get after you close on a house in a town you never heard of before it was recommended to you on an Internet message board!
