I have been in sales for over 15 years and it can be tough and very rewarding at the same time. If you end up being good (and have the right opportunity, one that has fair comp and true prospects for sales) you can move industries/companies within a year and be making much more than $50k. Of course, if the numbers they expect you to hit arent attainable then it might not matter how good you might be - and you might find yourself below the $50k, possibly by more than you can afford. Is the 50k estimate based on being at plan for the year?
Tough to say. It sounds like it is an entry level sales job. We don't even know how old he is? I know people that have a base around or a little higher than $50K and make well over $200K when the year is done.
okay heres the deal im 26 currently an outside rep with this company, the company feels i will do better inside and they are promoting me to an account rep, and giving me a steady customer base thats at 20k gross profit right now with unlimited amount of growth i will get on top of the base 5 percent of the gross profit per month and spiffs

It honestly sounds like you are just looking for someone to say this is exactly the perfect situation for you to move. It's not and we're not saying it. It will be tough, if not extremely tough/impossible on that salary, especially with a car loan already.

So the assignment already has a steady flow of revenue generating $20K in GP (per month?) and you get paid at 5% of GP? That's $1,000 (per month?)
Or are you saying that the assignment is generating $20K in commissions annually based on the 5% payout thus getting you to $27K + $20K = $47K?

True, but I know a lot more on LI with 75-90k bases clearing 150-2plus.
Its a MF to live here and real employers know it.
50k is poop on LI.One bad month and youre dead.
