How do I find out if my Glen Cove apartment is legal?
I would like to move out but I have signed a lease, however we do not pay our water or electric nor do we have our own thermostat for heat. Our landlord lives in the other portion of the house and we live in a converted garage that is now a 1 bedroom with a kitchen living room combo and a full bath(no window in bathroom).
If it is an illegal apartment.....
1. can I break the lease?
2. will the real estate agent who rented me the apartment return my fee?
3. can i move out and use my security deposit as last months rent?
