Hadn't seen any posts related to the Jones Beach 2014 Concert schedule, so figured I'd start one.

But first - now you can drink inside the amphitheater without being a VIP! Bring On The Booze | Alcohol Now Served At Jones Beach on JamBase

Though you will be relegated to 'the Oasis' where you have to watch the concert on monitors, but for those who like to drink during concerts it's a step in the right direction. Wonder how this will play out vis-a-vis drunk driving.

Schedule below, nothing I'm particularly interested in, anyone gonna see any of these bands? If so have fun.

Schedule:

Jack Johnson / Amos Lee
SAT 6/7

Goo Goo Dolls / Daughtry

I guess this will help make what is typically a miserable place to see a concert slightly more bearable...

There's a serious lack of any 80's bands, be they new wave or hair metal. I guess most of those bands prefer playing indoors in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

Why are the JB concerts so dated? I saw a number of contemporary artists in the 70's and 80's.

My sister and I went to see Vince Neil and Def Leppard a few years back and she got patted down by female security. Buh-buy, bottle of vodka hidden in her waistband. Security told her to dump it or bring it back to her car. My ticket had already been scanned in, so she told me she'd meet me at our seats. She was gone for a while, and I was getting a bit worried. Three songs into the set, she came back, vodka in hand. Well, vodka in bra. The enterprising nurse filled two vinyl gloves with the vodka and hid them where she wasn't going to get patted down. Desperate times call for desperate measures when you have to sit through Vince Neil, I suppose.

How much will a beer be? $15?

What's summer on Long Island without going to a JB concert in the pouring rain?

2001 I saw Journey and got backstage - it had rained in the beginning of the concert, and the tunnel that takes you to the back was flooded out. They had us walking on top of wooden pallets to keep our feet dry, and we can see wires snaking through the few inches of water.

One of life's perfect moments was during a Scorpions concert (maybe 2012?) The skies opened up, thunder and all, just as "Rock You Like a Hurricane" started.

I was at the REM/Modest Mouse/National concert a few years ago (now that I think about it it may have been 2006) and a storm passed through so they evacuated the theater and as everyone was leaving lightning struck the lightning rod, sparks flew, pretty crazy. They actually ended up letting everyone back in, we snuck beers in under our ponchos, and because so many people had left you were able to sit nearly anywhere you wanted.
