For those of you that have a lawn service/landscaper...just wondering if any of you have been hit by surcharges for storm clean-up from Irene and/or the hail storm that hit several weeks ago in western Nassau?

Our guy just charged us 2.5x the weekly charge just for the post-Irene clean-up. We were over in Ireland when the storm hit, but my brother stopped by the house and removed all of the large branches, so the lawn guy was just dealing with leaves and small branches and twigs. He hit us with a surcharge that was almost the same as the weekly service amount for the hail storm a few weeks ago. Suffice it to say, he won't be back next year.

Next year? You don't wait on this. Talk to them ASAP. He'll either drop it or you let them go right then. Then talk to your neighbors who use them.

I agree with the OP, talk to your landscaper now. Do not wait until next year.

I agree 2 1/2 times is a bit much but you should not expect him to do extra work for nothing I would try to reason with him.JMO

U know what you should do.....
Cut the grass yourself next week and tell them when they show up that the grass is unusually short this week, so no service needed and so "no pay" that week.... regular service resumes next week onwards, sorry for the inconvenience.

I got my bill today. He charged $10 for the Hurricane cleanup. Now my property is small and his usual weekly maintenance charge is only $20. There wasnt much debris around my house..perhaps a bag full..mostly leaves and some small twigs.

Im not going to make a big deal about $10..probably a reasonable amount for the bit of extra work..but it wasn't exactly a major cleanup.
