Homestead starts on the western edge of the village. It gets a little tricky from there...south of the Hempstead line railroad tracks the eastern boundary is Nassau Blvd. North of those tracks the boundary is Kensington Road. So if you live on, say, Brixton south of the RR tracks your kids go to Hemlock. If you live on Brixton north of those tracks you go to Homestead.
You can go to the district website and click on "school calendar" on the left - it will bring up a copy of the actual calendar that gets sent out to the residents; go to page 24 and it outlines the boundaries for all the primary schools. It takes a while to load.
The dividing line for Stratford v. Stewart is simply Rockaway Avenue.
^^^ I wouldn't worry in GC. They are building an addition on Homestead school rather than taking the simpler (and FREE) step of changing the within-district boundaries. They discussed changing the boundaries about 5 years ago and the outcry was too great.
Twingles - once again you come through regarding GC. I will go to the website you mention. Still looking and hopeful to purchase something in GC in the next year but will be patient to find the 'right' home for us.

Elementary schools aren't always the same. Some are better than others.
