You are right Lugers is not mederatley priced, a guy getting gassy on beef??? LOL never heard of someone getting gassy from steak. Italian might be the best because there are alot of moderatley priced places out there. French food is so so and since I am a picky eater I would either go with a chicken dish or fish dish. I went to one in NYC called Cafe D'artiste. We got engaged there in 2002. The only appetizing stuff on the menu I ate was the Asparagus with hollondaise and the Halibut. I won't eat pate or snails yuck.
Gassy on beef -- yes, well sort of. It's the combo of everything else and the steak eaten when at the steakhouses.
Lugers is a bad place for a first date, its noisy tight and expensive. at least 50% of the women I know aren't big steak eaters either. Assuming you don't normally go to expensive resturants, for a first date you probably shouldn't either. You should go for something more moderately priced but nice.
Italian works... but it seems like the default option. I do like french and it definately isn't just frogs legs and snails.
I haven't been here, but Brasserie Cassis is a french place in plainview that I've heard good things about.
or if it really is a blind date, maybe meet for coffee first.
