I am interested in looking at 55+ condos in Moriches called the Waterways of Moriches...they are south of Montauk Highway, and I'm sure they are considered in the "flood zone". I can't find the flood category on a map, but would anyone know what kind of flood insurance I'd be looking at for this area.

Any info would be appreciated....thanks,

The most accurate information would be through an insurance agent (talk to the agent through whom you have your car insurance). Since it's a government program, there's no shopping around - one price no matter where you go.
the government web site isn't exactly user friendly. Your insurance company/broker can tell you what zone you're in and the accompanying rate (e.g. Flood Zone A is about $1,400 a year)

I am in Wantagh, south of Merrick Rd in an AE flood zone. We. pay $2000 a year, no contents coverage- and thats with the multi-policy discount. I like my house, but honestly after the hurricane, I wouldn't but in a flood zone again.
You may be in luck if it's newer construction though. Most of these builders get a certifricate of elevation, and try to build above the flood area if possible. Good luck.
