It seems to me that Wealthy Long Island is completely asleep to the challenges of living on LI today.
You know starting out, raising a family, paying for college etc.
(You would think living here's a cakewalk reading some of these other boards)
When 100k buys 3% of our affordable housing....the great divide on LI has never been greater. In my 30+ years of living here, Ive never seen the Middle Class angrier or having less.
What do you have to look forward to?
You pay off your home and youre still saddled with over 1k a month in taxes?

I agree, but also disagree. You are right with the big picture, but you fail to point out the cause of the problem, - the race issue. You can not debate this problem without taking into account that in the last 20 years the United States has seen its non-white population grow by over 60 million people. Most of this growth is due to legal and illegal immigration. Whites are pessimistic about the future baceause that future looks darker and darker (pun intended).
2007: Current US Population 302.5 million: Whites 65%, Hispanics 15%, Blacks 13%, Asians 5% and others 2%.
2020: Population estimate from the Census Bureau: 336 million: Whites 60%, Hispanics 18%, blacks 14%, Asians 5%, and others 3%.

Actullay Im far more conderned with Elite (White) Wall Street 2% taking more and more of the pie.

However, don't you see that they support open third world immigration to destroy the white working and middle classes. Bush and company basically want a slave labor class to replace us. They want to bust what is left of organized labor, they want to do away with labor laws, they want unbridled capitalism. I do have to ask, in your own words what benefit do the "Elites" gain from doing all of this? And please give an answer not pulled from some other guys web site.
Clamboy , it seems your mind is made up. I can clearly see how frustrated you are that it is too expensive for what you want here, but every post of yours is negative and says the same thing pretty much. Truth be told, LI is very very desirable and that is why housing prices are very high. I think you already know you either have to accept it or leave, if you have tried all other options.
Say what you want about LIs present (or future) state. But the the reality remains that LI is very desirable to many people. We are not living on two different LIs...it is all the same LI, just that each one of us/our income/our needs/etc are different.
