Just as it's in sight....... or did you miss that part, and that is a little lower, but that is not deafening noise, do that from inside....
There's no way around it, that is LOUD. And you most certainly can hear that in your home..enough to rock your house a little bit and wake you up out of a nap. To be honest, that is not my area - It looks like Garden City. We don't get that many planes here where I am, but sometimes they will come in at weird times, one after another. And I'll admit it's kind of annoying being 25 miles from JFK and seeing a barrage of planes at 6am. Some do also come in a little too low, in my opinion.
I think the biggest issue people have in Nassau is the 140% surge in use of runway 22L. Which many arrivals coming from the WEST have to pass JFK, go on a crazy loop from Republic Airport, then over Central & Western Nassau -- when they could just come in direct to JFK from the West.

It is - it was posted by azzurony - remember him? He lives in the Estates section.
I vaguely remember him, yes. I figured LIMA would've noticed the difference being that he's driving 23.7 out of 24 hours a day. They are not that low here, thank God. When you were in GC, do you remember an increase in frequency of planes up until you moved? And tell LIMA how much you could hear them when you were there. It's all relative - Elmont probably gets them the worst but GC still gets hit.
^^^ Yes. We knew there were planes when we moved in - 1997. My DH is from there, and my sister lived in Stewart Manor for a few years. But the frequency increased dramatically the last few years, and they were flying lower. TBH I hardly noticed them when we moved in....it was a problem when we left, to the point where I was nervous about possibly showing the house in the summer if we were there that long (it is worse in summer - something to do with humidity or something). Here in NC, that kind of thing must be disclosed to a buyer in writing! I actually live way closer to the airport here in NC, yet we rarely see let alone hear the planes. I remember the first time we did, a few months after we moved in, and my kids were like, is there an airport around here?! Yes, kids, and it's only 10 miles away!
I had a friend that lived in Cedarhurst in the early 1990s - when I talked to her on the phone, our conversations would be interrupted by planes flying overhead. It was getting to that point on some days when I left GC.

The FAA's main "talking points" for using certain runways & approach paths (that they've carefully cultivated) to justify their total disregard for safety, noise, air pollution and dozens of other environmental issues are:
Their problem now is that many of us have done our due diligence and are onto their shenanigans and total lack of transparency.
