You must've been born after 1980 because you would surely remember the fiasco of the Southwest Sewer District and Posillico Construction. It was a major nightmare but when it was completed we on the south shore had the option of hooking up to sewers. It's the best $100 we pay a year. Cesspools stink!

I remember it well! Bought in Babylon right after it had been approved but before the construction. Sure had an impact on taxes

The alternative would have been to live with Cesspools, We had a party last night with over 50 beer guzzleing guests. I would be pumping sewage out of the basement this morning if not for sewers.
The Southwest sewer fiasco was the frontrunner of all the major public works projects, All projects since have used the same model of mismanagement and cost overruns.

We still have cesspools. Seeing as we have big parties in the summer, I rent port-o-potties to avoid potential unpleasant situations with the cesspool. Sewers would be great.

Yes; in Nassau county it is a special district property tax.
Actually, two special district property taxes: sewage collection and sewage disposal. In some areas, the sewage collection and sewage disposal districts are coterminous. Some are city or village, most are county.
