I made a payment today of $198.11 and was just disgusted with myself for not just cutting the cord but I work a lot, my wife works a lot and my 3 year old loves Yo Gabba Gabba so I normally would grin and bear it. I know for a fact I could eliminate many of the services and lower my bill dramatically but I like to enjoy certain shows, fast internet and the extras are a part of that. I have 4 cable cards, 2 hd boxes, phone, Boost service and HBO with On Demand. I didn't see why it should cost so much! But it did.

I called up (516-364-8400) and spoke to the first person nicely and explained I would like to lower my bill, they sent me to Account Dept. and explained that I sat with someone from FIOS yesterday and they quoted me $129+$20 misc charges for the same as they were offering minus HBO but Plus Showtime, I also said my iPhones were through Verizon so it's just adding to an already high bill. I explained I had the day off and needed to make this decision today but would prefer to leave things the way they are without removing services. After a few minutes of the hard sell (we have optimum rewards, News12) I just said I don't truly watch much TV and sadly don't have time to take advantage of their perks, I just need to lower my bill and $600 a year to save is attractive. She put me on hold came back and said she can offer exactly what I have now for $160+tax for 2 Years or $131+tax with free Showtime and Ondemand for 1 Year. I took the $131 and thanked her and moved on.

I recommend you not yell, get upset, joke too much, just explain the situation and if need be tell a few white lies. If they don't give you what you want than change your service.

FYI - if they didn't lower it I would be ordering FIOS instead of Typing this since they really do offer what I said for $150 and I already have the FIOS service in the house from the previous owner.

I would still highly recommend you ditch the Dolans and switch to FIOS.

Your're still paying too much. I was paying under $100 for all of that with direct tv (i have ooma so i just pay for the internet and not the phone) I called FIOS and was able to match it for under $100 and that includes phone.

Just switch to FIOS for $89.00/month for 2 years and be done with it. You will be glad you did.

I went to Fios and back.... the deal gets even better, not necessarily the quality of service though.

For 4 cable boxes + DVR (without the other stuff) you should end up around $100 (including tax).

Pretty soon (1-2 yrs maybe) you will be watching cable through the internet, so the cost it going to go down even further.

I agree with Fios.

I just signed a 2 year deal with them for $99 for the internet/phone/tv package with 3 boxes, including a multiroom DVR and 25/25 internet speeds.

Does that include HBO and sports channels?

My bill is only $29.95/mo, but I only have Internet. No Tax, No fees.
I'm done with cable. Will never be getting it again.
