Not a big deal. Where are you buying pizza for less? That is about the going rate, no?
I got 2 slices (1 pepperoni, 1 sicilian) and a bottled soda for just over 8$ today at Davincis in Island Park. Pepperoni was slightly greasy but the sicilian was really good.
Some of their slices are ridiculously expensive (saw some for $3.50+/each) but the regular slices are not bad, price-wise.
Also, I haven't been there in a while, but Mulberry St. on E. Park Ave was really good when we lived in LB. Couldn't order by the slice, though.
Brachinelli's in Smithtown still has a great Sicilian slice.
Central Pizza in C.I. used to have the best regs, but I heard the old man sold the place, and I haven't been there in years. I used to be able to do 1/2 a pie on my own it was so good.
Angelina's ( I think that's the name) on 111 in Islip across from Chazz's florist has a good sicilian slice. I liked the sauce. I went recently and had never been before in the 8 years I live in Islip.one thing about this place is that it reminds me of an old style pizza parlor from 1970's Brooklyn. They only serve 3 kinds of pies, white, regular and sicilian, and they have 5 topping choices. they have a small menu with only a few pasta dishes and entrees. Very small place. I would go back just for the sicilian other wise I am a big fan of Gios in East Islip. I am so in the mood for Spumoni gardens pizza in Brooklyn. Oh and I have to have a cream soda with my pizza. It's a must when I have Italian food.
A good one that I didn't see mentioned is Buseto in Bay Shore and Mamma Santina in Brightwaters (owned by the same people)... great regular pizza and specialties, particularly the Brooklyn and Margherita pies
Take Sandwich Size English Muffin, toast lightly, spoon on favorite sauce, some oregano, basil and slice some decent mozzarella onto top and re-toast until cheese is melted.
No worse than most of the slop on bread that goes for pizza on Long Island.
