Not everyone has the same requirements.
A student usually does not need a long distance commuting car.
It is great for running around town doing chores.
Maybe, it is not so great for the Texan salesperson.

Sure. I feel that way, too. And, as was mentioned, as the battery aged that radius would get smaller and smaller.
I rarely drive out of that radius, actually, but you really never know these days, there are emergency situations sometimes.
Did anyone catch the 60 Minutes snippet on Musk? It occurred to me that the insurance on a Tesla must be astronomical because the battery is the single most expensive part on the car and if the car is hit the battery is exposed to structural failure.
2yr old thread bumped by advertising, but I am seriously considering a Model X when it comes out next year. Especially if it's in the $30k-$40k range as estimated.

My good friend has one...I was told insurance is about on par with other luxury cars.
I've leased 2 Prius and last year I switch to the Lexus CT, which is basically the same as the Prius.
My wife and I have loved the hybrid cars and when we used to commute on the LIE, going in the HOV lane was awesome.
If they made an all electric vehicle more affordable, I would consider it.
The Chevy Volt is supposed to be a great car but also too expensive.
