Slaves, sure! Hazing, yeah it happened. I can't believe you dared to mention that one though!
Gpsma wanted something a little more current. I was going with an 'M' theme and opted for Mayberry over 'Massapequa Park deranged satanist pursued by MTA leads to death of NCPD PO Breitkopf.'

The satanist incident would have been better. See, there are certain things we cannot admit to in Nassau ... we should just tiptoe around the elephant in the room while lavishly compensating and praising it. Nassau's crime lab is one of those things.

A few more "minor" incidents in East Queens, er, Nassau:

That second one not to be confused with this:

I know it's not indicative of everyone that goes there, but this resembles the bar scene in Hempstead or Jamaica, Queens.

Stop defending the undefendable. SuffDump it is...SuffDump it always willl be.
Definitely true. Minus the nice areas mentioned in this thread, at least half of Suffolk is dumpy. Especially the huge swath in the center from Brentwood to Riverhead and most of the Town of Brookhaven.

Add Sayville, Oakdale, Bayport, Blue Point, Babylon too. These are also dumps. Oh and the Hamptons? definitely no classy people there.
Suffolk was around wayyyyy before Nassau. When I think of Long Island only Suffolk comes to mind. Nassau is a foster child of the city.
Savaged, Massapequa's close to the county-line border, but it's still Nassau by a mile. It's only 20 minutes to get to the Queens border so I don't know how anyone could consider this boonies. Maybe 20 years ago it might've been considered "further out" on the Island but today? One thing we share in common with Suffolk is the properties here are bigger than the standard 40x100 in Central/West Nassau. Houses are not right on top of each other like Franklin Sq. and that part of Nassau. However it is still more like Nassau than any part of Suffolk (Western Suffolk is sort of like Nassau though).
Weren't you saying recently how your old home town (Franklin Square) was 10x better than RP ?? Now you're knocking it - I'm confused.

Of course you don't refute that a significant portion of SuffDump is populated by the spandex/pickup truck crowd.
The whole competition between the two counties is stupid in the first place. You've got Nassholia on one side and Scruffolk on the other, but Long Island, in general, is not all that. The infrastructure is shot and precious little that was built here more than 25 years ago or earlier has been maintained the way it should have been. People pay $400K to get a fixer-upper. If you want a nice little home in that range that was built within the last 20 years, doesn't require a ton of work, and doesn't have you eyeball-to-eyeball with your next-door neighbor, you have to move to a place like Manorville. I don't know about the school district there or anything, but many of the homes there are lovely and don't cost an arm and a leg.
